ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a horrible illness and we need to do everything in our power to rid the world of it!  It's taken thousands of great people from us. People like Shane Rogers.

That's why we hope you'll plan to take part in the 2015 Walk to Defeat ALS this Saturday, October 10, from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Louisiana Boardwalk.  Maybe you'd even like to join Team Shameless and walk in memory of Shane Rogers.

Obviously you'll have the chance to walk with friends, and they'll have free food, music and children's activities.

ALS is a progressive and fatal neuromuscular disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that affect voluntary muscle movement.  ALS leaves patients paralyzed -- unable to walk, speak, swallow or breathe. ALS can affect adults of all ages. After diagnosis, people with ALS typically have a life expectancy of 2-5 years. At this time, there is no effective treatment and no cure. The ALS Association Louisiana-Mississippi Chapter provides help and hope to those living with the disease through care services, advocacy, education, awareness and research.

All funds raised will support pALS (persons with ALS)
