Shreveport mayoral candidate Melvin Slack was arrested this morning.

Shreveport police say Slack was arrested this morning for a hit-and-run accident and has been charged with hit and run, driving without insurance, marijuana possession (1st offense charge), and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Slack is currently the only non-Democrat running for Shreveport mayor and has received criticism for posing in a photo wearing an Army uniform.

The candidate has also openly stated that marijuana should be legalized.
