The City of Shreveport is targeting people who illegally post signs on city-owned property.

According to a news release, the Public Works Department will implement a Robo-Call System today that will remind people and businesses that placing signs on public property, such as medians, right of ways, utility poles or guardrails, is illegal. Any illegally-posted signs will be removed immediately.

Public Works will be using the calling system to notify those who violate the Shreveport Code of Ordinances. The calls will be automatically repeated until violators have removed all signs from city property.

"Small plastic or cardboard signs that display advertisements are becoming a nuisance and are by law illegal," said Public Works Director Dwan Gilliom. "These signs are a source of litter in our city. The City of Shreveport will use this new tool to help stop this illegal activity."

The news release doesn't specify any penalties for non-compliance.
