Shreveport Bossier Weekend Events — August 3 – 5
We made it to another steamy weekend in Kiss Country. And by “steamy” I mean miserably hot. . not sensually hot. . . but hey, its your weekend, do whatever want! Don’t forget this weekend is our tax free holiday! Here’s the low down on what’s happenin’ in Kiss Country.
New/Old Burger Place – This is the BEST BURGER NEWS I have heard in a LONNNNG time! I’m sorry, but its extremely hard to hide my excitement that Papa’s (formerly of Washington Street fame) has once again opened doors in Kiss Country! Oh how I love a Papa’s burger! Now known as Pappa T’s, if you have been looking for a great burger or maybe some gumbo or shrimp at a great price swing by this weekend and support local business! Check out their menu. Pappa T’s has moved in downtown at 203 Texas Street and are serving lunch from 10:30-2:30 Monday-Friday and late-night 10pm-4:30am on Thursday-Sat.
Music with Soul! Rebirth Brass Band – They’re funky, bluesy, and full of soul straight out of NOLA! Catch rebirth tonight at Fatty Arbuckle’s in the Red River District.
Time to get your Dragon Boat team together! The Rotary Club of Shreveport needs crews for the upcoming Dragon Boat Races on the Red River September 15. Its takes 21 bodies to paddle a 41-foot-long boat to the finish line Team entries are being accepted now. The $900 entry fee (that equals $42.86 per person) and other festival proceeds are awarded to non-profits in the Shreveport-Bossier area. Deadline for team entries is August 27.
