On a day as gorgeous as today I can't help but think of blowing off the rest of the afternoon and heading outdoors to soak up some sunshine. We are fortunate to have a few beautiful parks here in Kiss Country.

Right out your back door you can take a weekend camping "staycation" to Cypress Black Bayou, ride your bicycle along the Red River, play with your children on the playground at Betty Virginia Park or visit the retired chimpanzees at Chimp Haven in Keithville.

There are a few excellent places to run/walk in Kiss Country: Arthur Ray Teague Parkway in Bossier or the sister trail on Clyde Fant Parkway. Betty Virginia Park in Shreveport and Mike Wood Park in Bossier each offer a nice run/walk loop surrounding picnic tables and common areas that include playgrounds.

If cycling is your thing there are a few great areas to hit the dirt in Kiss Country: Lake Bistineau State Park is a favorite for mountain bikers. There is also a nice trail system just off the Clyde Fant Parkway accessible from the Stoner Boat Launch area. I have ridden both numerous times and recommend both to riders of all ability levels.
