It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Ruth Burdges never sleeps.  There's no way she can rest must with all the volunteer work she does.  What an amazing lady!  And she's this week's Caught in the Act Award recipient!

What makes this even more special is that her son, Brett Burdges, is completely astonished by his Mom's efforts and she's obviously his hero!

It was Brett who nominated Ruth as this week's Caught in the Act Award recipient! Check out the letter he sent us.

Ruth is our Krewe's Lieutenant of Charity and has been for three seasons now. She takes leads for charitable endeavors and pushes them out to our Krewe for help and support. Ruth has spearheaded our krewe's "giving back to the community" mission and ran with it. She has had the Krewe set to provide monthly dinners to Grace Home, led us in one of the top three spots in fundraising for the Walk to End Alzheimer's, collecting coats for the homeless, providing non-perishable food items for the local food pantry, collecting over two thousand bottles of water for the victims of the tornado that devastated Van, TX, collecting money for the Seeds for Peace organization, participating in the Polar Plunge with fellow friends on the Krewe of Elders, collecting shoes for the homeless, cleaning supples for Providence House and her latest endeavor; Woody's Place for homeless veterans. She is leading our Krewe in donating the items for the men at Woody's Place that they wish for, for Christmas. She has managed to rally up almost 100% of the Christmas list items as well as food needs for their kitchen. It doesn't end there, Ruth taught school religion classes every Wednesday night after working a full day for nearly 15 years at St. Pius X church. Her "mother Theresa" persona gives her a glow that is angelic. I am pleased to call her my Mother and very proud of her. I have worked with her on the Board of Directors for the Krewe of Atlas two different seasons and her giving nature prevails in all activities she participates in. She has a plaque in her home that reads "Do all things with kindness!" and she does just that, day in and day out.

Ruth Burdges, thank you for being one of the biggest reasons why this is the greatest place in America to live!

And because you've been "Caught in the Act" the gang at Silver Star Steak House and Silver Star Smokehouse have a $100 Gift Certificate for you and the family to come have dinner on them!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Ruth to let her know that she was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
