With this week's incessant rains, the water is rising, forcing officials to close area boat ramps.

Thursday night, February 22, 2018, the Red River Waterway Commission announced that boat ramps in both Caddo and Bossier Parishes were closed. The affected ramps include the boat ramps at North Caddo, Stoner Avenue, Bishop Point and Teague Parkway recreation areas. Boat ramps in Red River and Natchitoches Parishes are also being closed effective today. However, the Red River is not closed to boat travel and officials urge residents to contact private marinas prior to arrival to discuss launch conditions. The boat ramps will be reopened as soon as it's deemed safe to do so.

Accuweather is forecasting continuing rain and thunderstorms through the weekend for northwest Louisiana. Nearly 8" of rainfall has been recorded for the month for our area, almost 4" more than normal according to the National Weather Service in Shreveport. The National Weather Service forecasts the Red River in Shreveport will reach 27.1' by Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 6pm.
