A sad day for fans of Everybody Loves Raymond and the world at large, as the family of series star Sawyer Sweeten has confirmed news that the 19-year old passed away Thursday of a suspected suicide, in Texas. The young star and his twin brother Sullivan had played Raymond sons Geoffrey and Michael Barone from 1996 to 2005.

RadarOnline initially reported the loss, which the Sweeten family has since acknowledged over social media. Both Sullivan brothers played the Everybody Loves Raymond twins as early as 16-months old, while their sister Madylin played Ally Barone, all Ray (Ray Romano)’s children. The brothers also both played a character in a 2000 episode of The Disney Channel’s Even Stevens, and shared a role in the 2002's Frank McKlusky, C.I.

The Sweeten family offered a statement on Sawyer’s passing:

This morning a terrible family tragedy has occurred. We are devastated to report that our beloved brother, son, and friend, Sawyer Sweeten, took his own life. He was weeks away from his 20th birthday. At this sensitive time, our family requests privacy and we beg of you to reach out to the ones you love.

Sweeten had been visiting family in Texas, and is believed to have shot himself on the front porch of their home. Sister Madylin wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday, “At this time I would like to encourage everyone to reach out to the ones you love. Let them have no doubt of what they mean to you.”
