The Texas Rangers opened their 2016 season Monday afternoon, topping the Seattle Mariners 3-2. In the win the Rangers had just one hit, a Texas Leaguer by Prince Fielder.

It was a perfect day for baseball at Globe Life Park, with temperature in the low 80s and a packed house of almost 50,000, including former President George W. Bush.

In the fifth inning the Rangers put together three walks and an error to score one run before Fielder's blooper tied the score at 2. Then a booted ground ball by Mariners shortstop Ketel Marte gave the home team the winning margin.

Rangers ac Cole Hamels went seven innings to get the win. Shawn Tolleson pitched the ninth for the save. Mariners starter Felix Hernandez went six innings and walked five in getting the loss.
