Operation Santa Claus 5K Another Success For Local Children

Each year Kiss Country and the other Townsquare Media Radio Stations all team with the Shreveport Police and Fire Departments and the Bossier Sheriff's Department to raise money to purchase Christmas gifts for local, less fortunate kids.  The 30 year old joint venture is entitled "Operation Santa Claus."

Along with our weekly toy drives during the Christmas season, we also hold a number of other fundraisers, including this year's 3rd Annual Operation Santa Claus 5K.

Today's race at LSUS saw great weather, though the temperature was already near 80 by race time at 8:00 am.  In spite of that, runners were well pleased with their times and all had a good time.  Ultimately, the local kids will benefit most.

The overall winner was Micah Tirop of Murfreesboro, TN with a time of 16.44.  Finishing 2nd overall was Derek Dowell of Monroe, LA. with a time of 18.45

In the women's division, Tabitha White of Bossier City finished on top with a time of 23.23 and second place went to Sarah Brantley of Shreveport with a time of 25.19.
