South Highlands Elementary school has a new homework policy. There will be no written homework for students this year.

Principal Mary Harris tells KEEL News the school day has been lengthened and that should give ample time in the classroom to finish work. Teachers have 40 more minutes each day with the students and this will give teachers time to make sure work gets done in class.

Harris says families need more stress free time. She adds that teachers will put assignments on the website for parent who want their children to do some work each night. The students will also have reading assignments and studying.
