KTBS is reporting that Governor Edwards signed two bills into law earlier today that will affect Louisiana drivers. The laws apply to those taking driver's ed or about to take the driving test to get their license.

Act 334 (House Bill 241) makes it mandatory for driving schools to teach their students what to do and what not to do when pulled over by law enforcement.

Act 286 (Senate Bill 17) requires student drivers to take the course and be tested on the material before getting their Louisiana Driver's License.
The idea behind the laws are to better interactions with police and civilians during a traffic stop so everyone involved knows what's expected and help prevent the situation from escalating. Starting Jan 1 of 2018 the new rules will go into place and students will be tested on it for their license!
