Mudbug Madness Kicks Off Today in Shreveport

The 31st annual Mudbug Madness Festival kicks off today at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport. The event opens at 11am and goes till 11 pm everyday through Sunday and will feature two stages of around-the-clock live music, as well as Louisiana crawfish served every imaginable way. The best part is it’s FREE to get in today and tomorrow (Friday) till 5pm. After 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday, admission is $5 per person. Children younger than 12 and military with ID are free at all times.

As tradition, the event will feature crawfish eating and calling contests for all ages, street performers, children’s activity areas, and a Louisiana arts marketplace featuring original paintings, carvings, jewelry and crafts.

• Mudbug Madness runs from 11am to 11pm each day at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport
• Parking in the area gets pretty crazy so take advantage of the FREE shuttle service from Mall St. Vincent and Pierre Bossier Mall Thursday and Friday from 5pm to 11:30pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10:30am to 11:30pm.  Shuttles leave from the malls on the hour and half hour and they leave from the festival at 15 minutes after the hour and 15 minutes before the hour
• Youth Crawfish Eating Contest Friday 6:30-7pm
• The Men’s Crawfish Eating Competiton is Saturday from 1pm to 2pm
• The Crawfish Calling Contest is Saturday from 5pm to 5:30pm
