Menarche Party – Would You Ever Do This For Your Child?

When I read about the new trend of throwing "Menarche Parties" for young girls experiencing their first menstrual cycles my mouth dropped open into the completely shocked position. What do you do at a menarche party? You play pin the ovaries on the uterus of course. (I'm not joking.)

I had such an immediate and strong negative opinion regarding "Menarche Parties" and I am now forcing myself to try to see the good in this. Maybe this will teach young girls that they should not be ashamed of their changing bodies? Maybe this will instill confidence related to the beauty of being a woman? Or, maybe this will horrify and terrorize your daughter at such a fragile and scary moment in her life. . . . maybe.
