Wow!  We feel better just knowing that people like Mrs. Sally Knox are out there making this such an awesome place to live!  Bristol and I spoke with Mrs. Knox this morning and let her know that she'd been named this week's Kiss Country "Caught in the Act Award" recipient.

It's her love for animals that took this one over the top.  Here's the inspiring nomination we received anonymously.

I want to introduce you to a very special woman I lovingly call “the cat woman.” Her name is Sally Knox.  I met Mrs. Sally a few months ago as I was putting out food to a group of stray cats behind the Brookshires & Fred’s in Haughton. She came up to me and said “I knew someone else was helping because I saw the food.”

Mrs. Sally is a widow with grown kids that has emotionally and completely adopted these “Brookshires/Fred's cats” as her own.  She doesn’t just feed them, she names them each based on their personalities she sees when feeding. The personal attention to them is amazing. The feedings are the least of her compassion. She has taken several of them home (7 to confirm) and raising them as her own. Shelter is as important to her, so she has helped to make the cats shelters out of rubber maid boxes and Styrofoam ice chests.

She buys their food out of her own pocket and not just dry food. She purchases canned food for the cats, which can get pretty costly. She says they need that extra loving touch that the canned food gives. The love she shows has obviously become contagious. She has had to create an email group with myself and a few others named  the “Homeless Brookshires/Fred’s cats.”  We all try to help feed and pitch in, however, Mrs. Sally goes above and beyond us all. Her compassion does not stop with the cats, she also works with her church to cook and feed the homeless each week. She goes before and after to check on her cats to make sure those homeless have been fed too. I have witnessed her going in the storms to check on them with no concern for herself. Her latest show of compassion was picking up (2) of the cats and taking them in to her vet in hopes she can get them adopted out to a loving family.  She had the vet spay & neuter them, give them shots and check their blood work. She  says that is the least she can do to make sure they are loved and protected.

Thank you "Miss Sally" for showing the rest of us how to act selflessly and to be so giving. We are truly honored to say that you've been "Caught In The Act" of doing good.

Along with letting everyone know just how incredible Mrs. Sally Knox is, we've got a small token of our appreciation for her generosity with a $100 Visa Gift Card.

Take a listen to Sally as we informed her of this award.
