Curtis Loftin is a blessed man!  He's constantly doing for others and he truly loves it! In fact, I believe he actually gets more out of helping other people than they do.  He's just one of the most awesome men you'll ever have the chance to meet!  He's a true Christian, hard working, loving, devoted to his family and always available for those who need him.  No matter the hour or the need, Curtis is never one to say "no."

And until this morning, he didn't realize that others were actually watching him in action. In fact, it was his daughter Mary McDaniel who nominated him for this week's Caught in the Act Award and her letter truly moved us all.

I'd like to nominate my dad, Curtis M. Loftin. He's the MOST AMAZING man I know. He's been building houses for nearly 40 years. He works with Community Renewal International building "Friendship Houses" in Shreveport's high crime neighborhoods. These houses take months to complete and he does it all for no compensation other than seeing these neighborhoods turn around. He was nearly finished with a beautiful home in the Les Maisons subdivision when the Red River began flooding. He had a team out there 24 hours a day to keep the water (which was probably 4 feet above the slab) out. Everyone kept asking "why not let it flood if they have flood insurance." That was never an option to him. He was on the night shift out there and it was just CRAZY for 10 nights. When I was in 4th grade he asked me what would make me want to go to Sunday school more. I told him I didn't want to go unl ess he was the teacher. That was over 15 years ago and he's still teaching the 4th graders at Summer Grove. Just a few weeks ago he had open heart surgery. My mom and I were in the ICU with him when he woke up. One of the first things he did was ask the nurse if he could pray for her. That's my dad... praying for his nurse as soon as he wakes up from a triple bypass. These are just few reasons why he will and always has been my hero.

Curtis Loftin, thank you for being one of the biggest reasons why this is the greatest place in America to live!

And because you've been "Caught in the Act" the gang at Silver Star Steak House and Silver Star Smokehouse have a $100 Gift Certificate for you and the family to come have dinner on them!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Curtis to let him know that he was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
