One of the biggest stories in the country this week comes from Louisiana. It's a tragic story of a once-promising athlete being gunned down in the streets of New Orleans.

Former NFL and USC star running back Joe McKnight, who once played for Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport (during Hurricane Katrina evacuations), was shot in an apparent "road rage" incident earlier this week. Witness accounts have been contradicted by investigators, but here is what is solid from the Louisiana Radio Network:

"The man who has admitted to fatally shooting former John Curtis star and NFL player Joe McKnight is a free man, but Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand says 54-year-old Ronald Glasser could still face charges. Normand says they are still trying to flesh out the details, as they have received different witness accounts. And we’ve learned Gasser had another road rage incident at the same intersection in February 2006, but charges against him were dropped."

The latest revelation is that the shooter has had a similar altercation at this same intersection, leading some to believe the witness accounts of the shooter being the instigator in the altercation.
