An accidental shooting leaves a local casion patrol with a gunshot wound.

Shreveport police say 34-year-old Jerry Grimes was securing his weapon in his vehicle just after 7 this morning at Sam's Town Casino when the gun discharged, hitting Grimes in the thigh. He was taken to University Health with a non-life-threatening wound.

Detectives say Grimes was removing his firearm and putting it in the trunk when he accidentally shot himself. Grimes showed no signs of impairment and doesn't have any prior felony convictions that would make it illegal for him to carry a firearm.

Police are still investigating.
