Unless you have been living under a rock, you have heard of companies that offer rideshare such as Uber and Lyft. Lyft started its on demand transportation services in California and has expanded to more cities including Shreveport.

In recent years, the company teamed up with the American Cancer Society to participate in their "Road to Recovery" program. The program has been offered by the American Cancer Society for years and works by getting volunteers who are willing to provided rides to doctor's appointments for cancer patients. Lyft participated by offering free rides for patients in Miami and Las Vegas. Now the company is expanding their partnership with the American Cancer Society to more cities in the country.

This is not the first time Lyft has offered free rides to people in need. Last year, following the devastating hurricane season that impacted people in Texas and Florida, Lyft offered free rides to get people to shelters in their area.
