The New Orleans Saints announced Monday that they've released veteran quarterback Seneca Wallace, which means that former Louisiana Tech quarterback Luke McCown has won the coveted back up quarterback job to Drew Brees.

The Saints won their Friday night preseason game against the Oakland Raiders 28-20.  Saints backup QB Seneca Wallace played the entire second half, as fellow backup Luke McCown rested and today news broke that the Saints have released Wallace which means they will go with the former Tech Bulldog, McCown as their season long backup to Drew Brees.

McCown has played well in the preseason thus far, completing 18-28 passes against the Kansas City Chiefs in week 1 of the preseason.

McCown is not only a former Bulldog, but also married the daughter of long-time Shreveport Sports broadcaster Bob Griffin.
