Luke Bryan might be settling once and for all the debate about what counts as country in a yet-to-be-released song. It's called "What Makes You Country," and Bryan played the tune for an audience at an intimate VIP performance before a recent show; readers can press play above to watch Bryan perform the song live.

People talking 'bout what is and what ain't country / But what gives 'em a right to wear a pair of beat-up boots? / Is it the size of your tires and your fires, or your wild-a-- buddies? / Well, give me a minute, let me hit you with some hometown truth," Bryan sings in "What Makes You Country." "You could be a cowboy on the Texas plain / Or a plowboy waitin' on the rain / We're all a little different, but we're all the same / Everybody doing their own thing."

Bryan doesn't pull any punches in the lyrics of "What Makes You Country." Over a catchy riff, he calls out that sort of a prejudice at a time when we could all stand to "do our kind of country" without passing judgement.

"Might not be you, but I can't judge," Bryan sings. "Just be proud of what makes you country."

"What Makes You Country" isn't the first unreleased song that Bryan has played for VIP audiences: In June, he shared "Like You Say You Do" with an audience in Alpharetta, Ga.

Bryan is currently out on the road on his Huntin' and Fishin' and Lovin' Every Day Tour. A list of all of his upcoming shows is available on his website.
