The 13th ranked LSU Shreveport Pilots won their fourth Red River Athletic Conference Tournament title on Sunday evening at Pilots Field with a 5-3 win over the LSU Alexandria Generals.

This was the eighth overall tournament title in the program’s history with the first four coming as a member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. The Pilots have now won four of the last five RRAC Tournaments since rejoining the league in 2010-11.

The Pilots improve to 43-12 as they win their first tournament title under Coach Al Cantwell who is in his second season as the head skipper while the Generals fall to 39-14 as their fate is now in the hands of the selection committee to see if they will be a part of the NAIA Opening Rounds. The Pilots however clinched a spot in the 45 team field with the tournament title and will wait to see where they will go on Friday, May 8. The Opening Round will begin on May 12 and go through the 15th.

Dustin Doucette (7-0) picked up the win as he gave the Pilots a solid four and 1/3 innings allowing two runs on four hits but had three walks and struck out four for the win.
