It’s time for the annual Redbud Festival in Vivian! Some of the highlights on this year’s calendar of events: Redbud 5K, Pancake Breakfast, Redbud Parade, Rodeo and more! Fun times just up the road in Kiss Country!
March 15, 2012
Thursday March 15th:
Judging for the pet contest will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Gazebo on the square. $5 per entry. Call Brandi Ogletree 318-347-7993.
Youth Rally on the Square: Starts at 6:30 P.M. Great time of Worship and Special Message. All church groups and area youth are invited.
Friday March 16:
Methodist Youth Bar-B-Que Sponsored by the Vivian United Methodist Church. 11a.m.-2 p.m. Fellowship Hall. Dine in or pick- up. Menu – 1/2 chicken, potato salad, baked beans, bread and dessert. $6. Delivery for large groups! 318-375-3521.
First Baptist Church Youth Fish Dinner: Sponsored by First Baptist Church. Dine-in or carry-out. 5:30-7:00 p.m. Fellowship Hall. $10. Dinner consist of catfish, fries, hush puppies, coleslaw, drink and dessert. Call 318-375-3245.
Redbud Christian Music Night: Sponsored by the La. Redbud Assoc. Come and listen to soloist and groups from the area. Enjoy an evening of “good ole” christian music. Vivian Elementary/Middle School. 6:30-9:30 p.m. Call Mary or Danny 318-393-0508. $1 admission.
Redbud Street Dance: Downtown Vivian in the square at 8:30 p.m.
March 16 – Red River Riders:

March 17, 2012- REDBUD DAY!!!
Redbud 5K Run & Health Walk: Sponsored by the La. Redbud Assoc. 13th annual event. USATF Certified. Age divisions, male & female: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60 & over. Registration is $10 for students, $15 for adults in advance, $13 & $18 after March 12th.
Run will start at the Vivian United Methodist Church at 8 a.m. and will end at City Hall. Awards given male and female overall and three deep in age categories. Call James 318-375-2492.
Pancake Breakfast: Sponsored by the Vivian Community Club. Pancakes, sausage and all the trimmings have attracted hundreds of people for over 25 years to this famous event. Held at the former Kiwanis Hut in the Vivian City Park. 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. Adults $5, children under 12, $3. Call Debbie Williamson 318-223-4223
Booths, Arts, Crafts, Food & Fun: Stroll through the downtown streets and visit the vendors from this community and across the country who will display arts and crafts and festival foods. 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Call Denise at 318-210-1278
Entertainment: Artists will perform a festival of live music. Begins at 9:00 a.m. Enjoy hearing a variety of bands, groups, and soloists. Bring your chairs!
Redbud Parade: Sponsored by the La. Redbud Association. 48th annual parade. Area participants will start from the North Caddo Magnet High School and will be greeted by thousands of spectators as they travel down HWY 1. Parade start time is 2 p.m. Line-up will begin at 12:00 noon. Call Brandi Ogletree 318-347-7993. Parade entries must be received by March 11, 2012. No parade entries will be allowed Redbud Day.
ARKLA TEX PRO Rodeo: Saturday, March 17. 9:00 am slack with 7 pm performance. Vivian Arena.
2ND Annual Louisiana Redbud Festival Car Show: Entry Fee: $10.00 for first car, $5.00 for second car. All cars after 2nd, no charge. Same owners only on multi car discount. Show hours are 10am-4pm.
