For as far back as anyone can remember, this time of year means it's time for a trip to Vivian, Louisiana for the annual Louisiana Redbud Festival.  

Though most of the events for this year's Redbud Festival are slated for Saturday, March 21, there are several things lined up for Friday as well.  Below is a complete listing of all the events to come for this year's festival.

March 20, 2015 - Methodist Youth Bar-B-Que
Sponsored by the Vivian United Methodist Church.  11a.m.-1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.  Dine in or pick- up.  Menu - 1/2 chicken, potato salad, baked beans, bread and dessert.  $8.  Delivery for large groups!  Call Mary at 318-375-3521 for more information.

March 20, 2015 - Redbud Christian Music Night

Sponsored by the Louisiana Redbud Festival Association.  Come and listen to soloist and groups from the area.  Enjoy an evening of  "good ole" christian music.  $1 admission.  Vivian Elementary/Middle School, 6:30-8:00 p.m.  For more information, email Robert Briggs at rbriggs@treesbaptist.org.

Redbud Annual Photo Contest

Entries can be mailed to P. O. Box 1, Vivian, LA 71082 or dropped in the door mail slot of the Redbud Building.  Deadline is March 16th, 2015.   All Entries must be 8x10, include a Redbud tree or Redbud blossom in the photo, and must include your name, division, and contact information on the back.  Can be an old picture, does not have to be from this year.  Children’s division ages 6-15, Adult Division 16 and older.  For full details call Patsy Garrett at 318-219-6277.

Redbud Coloring Contest

Grades Pre-school - 3rd.  Sponsored by Dempsey Oil and Louisiana Redbud Festival Association.  Deadline is March 09, 2015. Coloring sheets are available at Vivian, Oil City, and Herndon Schools.  Call Chanda Clifton at 318-375-2415 (after 5:00 p.m.)

 

March 21, 2015- REDBUD DAY!!!

15th Annual Redbud 5K Run & Health Walk

Sponsored by the Louisiana Redbud Festival Association.   USATF Certified.  Age divisions, male & female:  9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60 & over.  Advance registration is $10 for students, $15 for adults, $15 & $20 after March 14th.  Run will start at the Vivian United Methodist Church at 8 a.m. and will end at City Hall.  Cash Prize of $100.00 will be given for both male and female overall and three deep in age categories.   For more information, call James Festervand  318-375-2492.   Print Race Form

Pancake Breakfast

Sponsored by the Vivian Community Club.  Pancakes, sausage and all the trimmings have attracted hundreds of people for over 25 years to this famous event.  Held at the former Kiwanis Hut in the Vivian City Park.  7 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.  Adults $5, children under 12, $3.  Call Debbie Williamson 318-223-4223.

Booths, Arts, Crafts, Food & Fun:

5TH Annual Louisiana Redbud Festival Car Show

51st Annual Redbud Parade

Sponsored by the Louisiana Redbud Festival Association.   Area participants will start from the North Caddo Magnet High School and will be greeted by thousands of spectators as they travel down Highway 1.  Parade start time is 2 p.m. Line-up will begin at 12:00 noon. Parade entries must be received by March 15, 2015.  No parade entries will be allowed Redbud Day. Redbud Street Dance

The Street Dance is back!  And this year, it’s the finale to the 51st year of the Louisiana Redbud Festival!  Sponsored by the Louisiana Redbud Festival Association.  Come enjoy an old fashioned ‘fais do-do’ on the Square at 7:00 p.m.  Featuring “What the Funk” band.  In the event of rain, it will be moved to the Vivian Events Center by the Vivian Park (Old Armory).
