The Sportsman's Paradise!  The great State of Louisiana personifies just what every outdoorsman dreams about.  Huge bass, loads of waterfowl, and whitetail deer by the tens of thousands.  However, our state has put certain safety requirements in place before that hunter can take to the field.

All persons born on or after September 1, 1969, must successfully complete a Hunter Education Course in order to hunt in the state of Louisiana.

So, if you've got a young hunter who thinks he/she is ready to take on the privilege of hunting, you'll be interested to know there are a couple of these Hunter Safety Classes coming in the next couple of weeks.

On September 23 - September 25, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, the FREE Hunter Safety Course will be taught at the Vivian American Legion Hall.  Of course, the hunter who completes this course will still need to spend about a half day in the field, and that instruction is free of charge as well.

Also, from October 1 - October 3, from 6:00 pm until 9:30 pm, the FREE course will be taught at Barksdale Air Force Base Natural Resource Building.  As with the class in Vivian, some additional hours will be required in the field to complete the certification.

Get registered for either of these classes or more available dates for these FREE courses at wlf.louisiana.gov.

The course can also be taken online, but there is a slight charge for this one.  Find out more about that HERE.

Hunter Education Courses are open to persons of all ages, but only those persons 10 years of age or older are eligible for certification. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a Louisiana Hunter Education Certification Card that is recognized by all states and provinces that require hunter education.
