Hard to believe that deer season begins in only 11 days.  Bow season starts October 1. We can almost hold our breath that long can't we?

Game cameras are already filling our minds with winter dreams!  Hunters are scouting the woods looking for the perfect spot to perch and possibly see that monster whitetail! We're bush hogging, plowing and planting some of the most beautiful food plots in the country and in just 11 days the quest begins!

With deer season so close, we felt it would be useful to put some important deer season dates all together in one convenient reference place for you so be sure print this out for future reference.

Oh, and please note, these dates are ONLY for Area 2 (Northwest Louisiana).

  • October 1 - January 31 - Bow Season
  • October 11 - October 17 - Youth and Honorably Discharged Veterans Season
  • October 18 - October 24 AND January 12 - January 18 - Primitive Weapons Season
  • October 25 - December 3 - Still hunting ONLY (no dogs)
  • December 4 - January 11 - With or without dogs

Again this year, during the special Primitive Weapons Season, youths 17 or younger may hunt either sex deer with any legal weapon during the Primitive Firearms Season in each deer hunting area.   Read more about this special exemption at wlf.louisiana.gov

And please remember, all persons born on or after September 1, 1969, must successfully complete a Hunter Education Course in order to hunt in the state of Louisiana.  To find out about a couple of these FREE classroom courses coming in the next few weeks, go HERE.
