Last year's Lawson Bo Brandon Baseball and Softball Tournament featured over 80 teams and around 900 players aged 7 to 14.  This year's tournament, the 3rd annual, will likely top those numbers.  With games beginning Thursday, April 11 at several Bossier Parish venues, baseball will be the big focus of the weekend.  Venues include Haughton Dixie Fields, Benton Baseball Complex and Walbrook Park in Bossier City.  Softball games will be held next weekend, April 18 through 22.

The tournament is named in honor of Lawson Bo Brandon, a Haughton youth who died in a tragic ATV accident at the age of 8 in 2010.  Lawson, the son of Jerry and Kristen Brandon, loved all sports but especially baseball and funds raised from the tournament go to the Lawson Bo Brandon Fund to fund a number of child oriented local philanthropic efforts.
