WOW!!!  Just when you thought things were about to slow down a little as we prepare for the upcoming winter, we kick it into high gear.  

There's so much going on this weekend, you'll never get to do it all, but before you commit yourself to all the long hard hours of Christmas shopping on the way you'll want to enjoy these last few moments to take in some fun.

And we've listed all the incredible stuff we've found for the weekend below.

  • It's the final weekend of the Louisiana State Fair and along with all the rides, games and food, we're in for some more great concerts this weekend including Cody Cooke and the Bayou Outlaws, Saturday night at 6:30 followed by the king of Zydeco, Wayne Toupes at 8:30pm.  Get more info at StateFairofLouisiana.com
  • Due to bad weather last month, the Fall Festival at Chimp Haven was rescheduled to this Saturday from 9:00am to 1:00pm  at the Eddie D. Jones Park off Highway 789 in Keithville.  Admission is $6 for adults, kids 6-12 are $5, and those children 5 and under are FREE.  Along with the awesome Chimpanzees you'll see, there will be a carnival with games and food, live music, a cake walk, string maze, face painting and behind the scenes tours.
  • Christ Fit Gym Fun Day - actually the Senior Project of Jamie Phillips from Haughton High School, this event will be held Saturday, November 8 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at Christ Fit Gym on Benton Road in Bossier City. It is free to participate! There will be food, bouncy house and raffles and many more fun activities. All monies raised will go the non-profit Christ Fit Gym.   • And another senior at Airline High School, Bryana Taylor, has organized a Shriner's Fundraiser for her senior project.  This will be held at Saturday, November 8 from 12pm until 6pm at Cash Point Landing.  The event is open to the public. There will be live music. The bands playing are Landry & Company, KANDU, and Honky Tonk Heros. Bayou Bounce has donated a bounce house for kids. The event is family friendly, and ALCOHOL Free and all proceeds go to Shriner's Hospital.
  • Sargent Barrett Lovell of the Bossier Sheriff’s Department was recently diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia).   Barrett, a Bossier resident, has been undergoing intense chemotherapy in a Houston hospital since being diagnosed.  He is only 34 years old. He needs all the support he can get, mental, emotional, and financial. To help with those financial needs, his friends and family have organized a fundraising golf tournament this Saturday (November 8th) at Querbes.  Tee Off on Leukemia for Barrett will begin with a shotgun start at 12:00 pm.  It's a 4 man scramble with prizes and all monies raised will go to Barrett.  For more information contact Johnny Cunningham 564-0472  Also, the Bossier Sheriff’s Office will hold a fish fry on Monday November 10th from 10:30am – 1:30pm at 203 Burt Blvd in Benton.
  • The third annual Veterans Parade and Honor Ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds. The parade will begin at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum and travel down the midway to the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club. The Co-Parade Marshals are Mayor Lo Walker, who is a proud Air Force Veteran, and Colonel Steve DePyssler, USAF Retired. This event is free and the public is invited to attend.  There will be at least 85 units in the parade and over 2,300 participants. Bands from Byrd High School, Fair Park, Southwood, Captain Shreve and Parkway will be included in this year’s lineup. Also marching will be (11) JROTC units from Caddo and Bossier City, along with the 50 state flags, carried by personnel from Barksdale Air Force Base. Other marching units will include: the Youth Challenge Cadets, the Young Marines, and eleven banners for each war, with local veterans marching behind them.
