Kiss Country Salutes Seaman Cody Bass – Our Service Member of the Week

This week's Kiss Country Service Member of the Week is Seaman Cody Bass of the United States Navy.  Cody just returned home last night and no one is more excited for his return than his fiancé Maria Siau.  Maria submitted Cody's name and we are only too happy to recognize his efforts.

Last night, after a weather delay, my fiance', LSSN Cody Bass flew into Shreveport Regional Airport after his 8 month deployment. He is currently a Seaman in the United States Navy aboard a destroyer, USS Laboon (DDG 58). This is the first time he will see any of his family since July 2012, when the ship departed from Norfolk, VA where he is stationed. He was born and raised in the Ark-la-tex until he joined the Navy at 20 years old. This deployment was his first and was very difficult for him. He missed the entire holiday season; Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, Valentine's Day and my entire pregnancy with our son. He also left behind two daughters, Harleigh(2) and Scarlett(1), as well as myself. Two weeks after he left for deployment, we found out we were expecting his first son. I am now 36 and a half week s pregnant with our son. Our friends and family gathered at the airport to welcome Cody home with open, loving arms and we are honored for him to be recognized as this week's Service Member of the Week!
