Karen Leon is one of those people who mastered the mantra "I Am Last." She's constantly putting family, friends, even perfect strangers, way ahead of her own needs. And it's that giving spirit that made her a shoe in for this week's Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

And probably the most special part of this recognition is that is was her own daughter, Rachel Leon, who nominated her with this amazing letter.

My mom is most deserving of this award! She has the biggest heart of anyone I've ever met! My dad did too. She has helped friends of mime with Christmas for their kids when they weren't able to provide it themselves. When hurricane Katrina hit and so many evacuated here, she found a family that had lost everything and allowed them to stay in our rent house, rent free for a year or 2 and even paid the electric and water bill. When my dad, her best friend, was diagnosed with cancer, she kept the faith and was by his side every step of the way. When he passed 2 years ago, she was strong for my brother and I. My dad always did all the yard work and handy work but she quickly learned to do it herself. I could go on for days with all her acts of kindness but this would turn into a 1000 page letter. I don't know where my kids and I would be without her. She is my rock and my best frien d and that's why I think she so deserves recognition! I love my momma

Karen Leon, thank you for being one of the biggest reasons why this is the greatest place in America to live!

And because you've been "Caught in the Act" the gang at Silver Star Smokehouse have a $100 Gift Certificate for you to come have dinner on them!
