It's no secret that Glenn Campbell inspired many artists, not just country artists.  Campbell has been hailed as the first ever cross over star in country music, Campbell had never labeled himself as a Country singer. Campbell was such a talented artist, from his songwriting, guitar skills and his unique vocals. It's no surprise that many artists have honored the late Rhinestone Cowboy by covering some of his hits.

John Mayer was playing for a sold out Nashville crowd during his The Search For Everything Tour and he told the crowd he was going to cover one of his favorite songs. Glenn Campbell had passed away hours before John Mayer took the stage at Bridgestone Arena “I’m going to play this song with more love than precision. I’m going to play it because it’s my favorite song in the world, and it was performed by Glen Campbell, who sadly passed away today. I’m going to play this for him. Whether I play it right or wrong I'd rather have played it." said John right before he played the Grammy Award winning song "Gentle On My Mind"
