This morning, Gary and I decided to turn our show over to folks who have a need right here in Kiss Country. After all, one thing that we're known for here in northwest Louisiana is taking care of our own.

Here are some of the events and fundraisers that you called in to us. We sure hope that you can help to support some of these great causes and families in our area!

Chicken spaghetti fundraiser at East Side Missionary Church in Minden June 2nd 11am – 2pm for the Weeks family who need help with medical expenses.

The Benton Elementary Archery team needs financial assistance to get to the national championships in July, donations can be made at Benton Elementary School

There's a fishing tournament for 12-year-old Noah Schultz who has cancer June 17th on Caddo Lake. The tournament is being organized by Ben Potter 464-2814 and Life Air Rescue and we've been told that a lot of prizes have been donated.

David Burkes is a former local law enforcement officer with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Department and he was the Guinness world record holder as the tallest law enforcement officer in the world and because of his height, he needs braces for his legs. The guys at Clark’s Custom Guns are building a custom rifle that they’ll try to break a world record with, attempting a 700 yard shot… the gun will then be raffled off with the proceeds going to David Burkes. Contact John Phelan to purchase raffle tickets at 423-2295.

Annual Talimena Rally Cruisin’ for St. Jude Motorcycle Ride May 25-27th

There’s a GoFundMe page set up to fund renovations and repairs for the only building left standing from the Battle Pleasant Hill. The building is roughly 170 years old and was used as a hospital following the battle.

There’s a 4-H Shooting Sports fundraiser this Saturday, May 20th at the Shreveport Gun Club. Registration is at 7:30am and shooting starts at 8:30am. For more information you can call the Caddo Parish Extension Office
