Anyone who lives around the Shreveport Bossier City area knows all about the power of the Red River and soon that power could be used for electricity. KTAL reports that Lawmakers and Nelson Energy are working towards building an Hydroelectric Plant on the river. The project predicts that the construction could bring around 700 new jobs and several hundred-million dollars each according to Nelson Energy.

While Natural Gas might be cheaper those involved believe Hydroelectric Power is planning for the future due to the fact there would be no fuel source needed. The company is looking for a utility company which they'd need to partner with to bring the stored energy to the public. No date or location has been reported for the new plant.
