Hurricane Harvey destroyed countless homes in the Houston area and the flood waters have yet to recede. Shreveport is stepping up and doing our part to help our neighbors to the south. From supply drives all over the city to people heading down to rescue those still trapped and now the city has opened a Mega shelter bringing in people needing stay safe.

KTBS reports that the old Sam’s Club on Jewella Avenue will house over 2,000 evacuees with another shelter ready to open if that one fills up. It's unclear how long the shelters will be open because it's unclear how long the flood waters will stay and then comes the matter of what's under the flooding.
