With fires ravaging multiple areas across the Ark-La-Tex our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost homes, memories, loved ones, pets, livestock, and property. Many firefighters and volunteers are working throughout these areas attempting to contain fires, save lives and salvage properties. With that in mind, here are some ways you can help these brave men and women.

This list was compiled by our Townsquare Media family members just down the road in East Texas at KNUE. Marcie Pink researched the area needs and ways that you can assist. Check out her full story here.

According to Marcie: local East Texas Fire Departments in need of supplies. (i.e Gatorade, water, fruit, etc etc).

-Cherokee County

If you would like to help the firefighters in Cherokee and southern Smith County you can donate at the Pct. 3 office on Highway 79 west in Jacksonville.

-Marion County Fire Department

They are accepting food, high energy snack foods (granola bars, trail mix, etc), hand towels, wipes, and lip balm.

At the present time, they have enough water and Gatorade.

These brave “neighbors” are working in conjunction with Cass County Fire Department since several of the fires are on the Marion/Cass County lines. (Thank you to a KNUE listener J. Lawrence who provided us with this information)

Other areas that we know are affected by the fires are Sabine, Clarksville, Justin, New Diana, Hallville and Ore city.

 

We at Kiss Country are accepting any supplies or donations that you would like to drop off as well. Just swing by our station, just off the Pines Road/I-20 exit, we are on the service road just down from Cracker Barrel.
