In the Ark-La-Tex, we've found that heroes don't wear tights and a cape. In our community, it’s the men and women who put on a uniform every day with one goal, to serve and protect our neighbors and our country.

That’s why on Saturday, July 20, 2013, Harrah’s Louisiana Downs will honor these men and women. The event begins at noon on the racing apron and the whole family is invited.

Our local heroes will be fingerprinting children and teaching important fire and personal safety skills. They'll also have a sports performance course set up so kids can test their skills and endurance.

And the Inflatable Zoo of Shreveport will have bouncy houses set up to occupy kids for hours. Best of all, it’s all FREE!

There will be plenty of food and fun. And our local heroes can enjoy the day. Just show your military, law enforcement or emergency personnel card or badge for some free offers.

Louisiana Downs will honor these men and women heroes throughout the day with a number of horse races dedicated to them and their heroic efforts.
