My favorite hunter/jumper show of the year is the Double Rainbow Farm Halloween Horse Show! I guess being able to dress up brings out my inner child. Heck, in year's past, my friends and I have gotten pretty competitive when it comes to picking the perfect Halloween costume for horse and rider!

Of course, you have to be careful when you're dressing up your horse. Horses are prey animals and anything that flaps, blinks, looks even slightly unusual, can be cause for disaster! Avoiding the above can definitely limit your costuming options. After all, you're not just worried about hitting the dirt yourself, but also your fellow riders safety.

With that being said, the Halloween costume contest at Double Rainbow Farm in Haughton, LA was pretty amazing! Every single year, I find myself impressed all over again but the sheer creativity that goes into these productions. Sadly, I ran out of time to make my costume this year;( However, you can check out the photo gallery above for a peek at this year's creations!

If you've got a child who's got the horse bug, join the fun at Double Rainbow located at 1860 Adner Road, Haughton, LA. For questions, you can call (318) 949-9133. Thank you DREC for allowing us to use your photos!
