The historically challenged discount folks at Groupon were trying to stay topical and celebrate President's Day this year, so they decided to give people $10 off on purchases of $40 or more.

In a press release Friday, they wrote, "The $10 bill, as everyone knows, features President Alexander Hamilton - undeniably one of our greatest presidents and most widely recognized for establishing the country's financial system."

Uh, excuse me. Alexander Hamilton was never President. Sure he was one of the primary forces establishing our financial system, but it's because he was the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, and not because he was President.

So, the "misguided or under-educated" folks at Groupon based their entire President's Day sale on "former president" Alexander Hamilton, who was never President; of the United States or any other country that we're aware of.
And the piece de resistance came when someone apparently wrote to them to point out their mistake about Hamilton.  That's when Groupon lashed out with this mind blowing response, "We respect everyone's beliefs. You're certainly entitled to your opinion."

Hey Groupon, I think we have another opinion now.  We're pretty sure you should fire whomever does your fact checking!
