Greenwood Participating in a Drug Take-Back

If you live in the Greenwood area and have some old prescription medicines in your cabinet, the Greenwood Police will help dispose of those safely and anonymously.

The Greenwood Police Department will be taking part in the DEA Drug Take-Back Program, a national effort to get expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs off the streets. If you have any old prescriptions or over the counter medicine, bring them to the Greenwood Police Department at 9381 Greenwood Rd from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

You should never flush old medicines, as some chemicals in the drugs do not get filtered out during the water treatment process. That means that potentially harmful chemicals are being released back into the environment, or even worse, back into the drinking water supply. If you have ANY old medicines, use this service to get rid of them.

There are a few basic guidelines, however. The Take-Back Program CANNOT accept liquids, needles, or sharps; only pills and patches. This service is FREE and anonymous, no questions asked.
