The Rhinestone Cowboys family released a statement "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and legendary singer and guitarist, Glen Travis Campbell, at the age of 81, following his long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease," Glen Campbell had over 70 albums released and sold over 45 million records. Dubbed the "Rhinestone Cowboy" because of his 1975 hit, Glen Campbell inspired many country artists. The Band Perry covered his "Gentle On My Mind" which the Rhinestone Cowboy claimed they hit it out of the park.

Glen Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and let the public know in 2011. His wife Kim Campbell is scheduled to speak at the Alzheimer's Alliance of Smith County in November to share her story and discuss the challenges that families and the people who live with the disease face everyday.
