New in theaters this weekend you’ve got the sixth Resident Evil movie called The Final Chapter. It’s up against the new Matthew McConaughey movie Gold and A Dog’s Purpose.

Speaking of A Dog’s Purpose, Peta is calling for a boycott of the movie after the release of the video taken on set some fifteen months ago showing alleged animal abuse released recently by TMZ. There are protests expected in at least twenty-five cities. A lot people are claiming that the video was highly edited to show the situation in a bad light. Experts had originally projected the movie to win the box office this weekend but those estimates have since been adjusted.

The 17th Annual Country Music Critics’ Nashville Scene’s poll is out and it has Miranda Lambert taking the categories for both ‘Artist of the Year’ and ‘Best Female Vocalist.’ Sturgill Simpson had the honor of being named ‘Best Male Vocalist’ and Maren Morris got ‘Best New Artist.’
