Deputy Chris Davis is a simple, humble, Desoto Parish Sheriff's Deputy. However, though it's his job to serve and protect, he's recently taken that to a whole new level as he made the donation of "life" to someone he didn't even know.

When he was called upon by "Be The Match," without hesitation Deputy Davis jumped into action and began the process of stem cell donation that could ultimately save the life of a person he's never even met. If that's not a true hero, we probably need to re-evaluate the definition of the word.

We were tickled to learn of Chris' heroism in his nomination letter from friend and obvious fan, Maegan Adams. In fact, her letter was so moving, it made it an easy decision to name Deputy Davis as this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

Deputy Chris Davis is not only an officer for the DeSoto Parish Sheriffs Department, but he is also a husband, father and a HERO! Chris signed up for Be The Match program while he was in the law enforcement training academy in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. Be The Match is a program for cancer patients in need to be matched with potential donors who are willing to participate in bone marrow transplants, blood stem cells, and other methods that can help save a life. Chris was contacted and asked if he would be willing to donate because they had a patient who he did match. Without ANY hesitation he agreed! Chris spent 5 days administering injections of filgrastm, which increases white blood cell production and produces peripheral blood stem cells. That's exactly what this patient needed. Peripheral Blood Stem Cells. Chris traveled to and from Houston for blood work, injections, and finally donation! During the entire time of preparing for donation he was serving and protecting the people of DeSoto Parish. He told me he would do it all over again in a HEARTBEAT...If he could give someone one more day,one more hour, that's exactly what he wanted to do! He never once complained, not a single bit!! His selfless actions in this situation and on a daily basis are a true inspiration!!!

Deputy Chris Davis, thank you for being an inspiration to us all and a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live!

And because you've been "Caught in the Act" the gang at Silver Star Smokehouse and Silver Star Grille have a $100 Gift Certificate for you to come have dinner on them!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Deputy Davis to let him know that he was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
