Shelby Rowell wrote to us telling us about one of the Shreveport Fire Department's finest, Daniel Marze. After reading Shelby's letter, we're pretty sure you'll agree why we're calling Daniel one of SFD's finest!

My friend, Daniel, is a fireman with Shreveport Fire Department. A few weeks ago, Daniel went on a call to help a man at Providence House. Upon arrival, Daniel came to know this man. He is a single father of 3 beautiful children. His lease at Providence House is almost up. And he is also battling stage 4 colon cancer. Daniel took him where he needed to go, and kicked into gear. Since then, Daniel and SFD have been looking and asking around for donations of house items for when this family has to find another home; things like beds for him and his children, clothes, furniture, kitchenware, etc. Although there are many helping in this situation and could equally be deserving of this award, none of this would be possible without Daniel taking action. I'm proud to be Daniel's friend!

Daniel Marze, thank you for being an inspiration to us all and for being a big reason why this is the greatest place in the world to live! We can't imagine a world without folks like you in it to help our fellow man. And because you've been "Caught in the Act," the gang at Silver Star have a $100 gift certificate for you to come have dinner on them!

Off air, Daniel told me that if you'd like to help this family, you can reach out to Debra Kelly, who is the Chaplain for the Shreveport Police Department.

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Daniel to let him know that he was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient and make sure you keep some tissues handy!
