Walter Serpit of Columbus, Georgia just won't allow good beer go to waste.

Although Serpit walks with a cane, he still managed to hobble his way back inside his burning house at 42nd St. near Oates Ave. to get what was left of the Bud Lite he had been chugging.

He did the right thing first and made sure that six adults and two children were rescued and everyone made it outside safely before boldly going back in for his brew.

"I told them to get the kids out and everything, and me myself, being an alcoholic, I was trying to get my beer out," said Walter Serpit, "I went back into the house like a dummy and the door shut on me because this back draft was about to kill me."

A neighbor called firefighters who arrived soon after and extinguished the flames and members of the Red Cross are helping the family get back on their feet.
