The Caddo Sheriff is hosting an event to help churches prepare for a tragedy.

Special awareness training sessions are being held in three communities this month. Sheriff Steve Prator wants folks to have some strategies to use in the event of a mass shooting situation or other tragic event.

The classes are being held for churches, synagogues, and mosques. The free course is designed to help places of worship and the public prepare for an active shooter event. Instruction will cover the Louisiana law on concealed carry in churches, procedures for concealed carry inside a religious facility, suggestions for security at your place of worship, and church emergency plans.

Classes will be held at:

Southwood High School Auditorium, 9000 Walker Road in Shreveport, 6-8 p.m., December 12;
Northwood High School Auditorium, 5939 Old Mooringsport Road in Shreveport, 6-8 p.m., December 14; and
North Caddo High School Auditorium, 201 Airport Drive in Vivian, 6-8 p.m., December 19.

If you would be interested in attending, Contact Deputy Andrea Claiborne at 681-0735 to register.
