I am sitting here surrounded by things that I only enjoy once a year. I don't even know if Krackel Bars are actually sold in any other form than the miniature version that come in the mixed Hershey bags for Christmas. To my left is spiced tea and one of my Winter favorites: Satsumas! In a drawer to my right hot chocolate packets. I love, love this time of year!

Okay, if you have never experienced the Satsuma---DO IT!! (Unless you hate oranges.) Satsumas peel so very easily and are super duper sweet. They do have seeds, but not too many. They are only available this time of year, so seize the moment! We picked up our last batch of sweet Satsumas at a stand on the side of the road just off I-20 before you get to Ruston.

Spiced tea is a family favorite of ours. Here is my mom's recipe! This tea is the perfect remedy for the Christmas sniffles, it's packed full of Vitamin C. I use decaf tea, but you can add the real stuff for a little more punch. For even more kick, do what my mom does--add Rum. (I always suspected she was having a couple nips off the bottle.)

Growing up my Mamaw was the Christmas candy guru of the family: peanut butter balls, peanut brittle, pecan brittle, and coconut bars dipped in chocolate were just a few of the treats that came rollin' out of her kitchen every Christmas Eve.
