There are stories every year of Christmastime house fires, and some of them end tragically because smoke alarms were either not installed or installed improperly. This is especially true with our seniors.

The Caddo Council on Aging is partnering with the Shreveport Fire Department to bring community awareness for the need to have working smoke alarms in every home this winter season, especially the homes of our seniors. CCOA Executive Director Mary Alice Rountree will make a special presentation to SFD Fire Chief Scott Wolverton supporting this effort.

"We are grateful to have the support of the Caddo Council on Aging. We only hope that this partnership will encourage other organizations to adopt other community needs and be willing to lead in improving the quality of life in Shreveport," said Wolverton.

The presentation will happen Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the SFD Administration Conference Room located at 263 N. Common Street.
