When we received the nomination for this week's Caught in the Act award recipient, I immediately emailed Gary. I've known Lynn Stevens through her volunteer efforts for years and I personally can't think of anyone more deserving of the recognition than Lynn!

The nomination letter we received from Lisa May tells the whole story and made it easy for us to name Lynn this week's Caught in the Act Award recipient.

Lynn Stevens is an awe-inspiring lady. She is the Chief Operations Officer of the local United Way. She works tirelessly with non-profit agencies all across northwest Louisiana. Her work never stops, she is constantly fundraising, volunteering, encouraging, mentoring and inspiring all who work in these agencies, and everyone who knows her. Although her job is to perform these duties, she is never "off work," volunteering on weekends and holidays.

Lynn is fighting a battle of her own, she has Muscular Dystrophy. Although she is in a wheelchair, needing to make costly improvements to her home to accommodate her increasing needs, and in need of a service dog, her outlook is always positive, and her focus is always on what she can do to help others in our community.

The recognition for her would be a great way to thank her, but even more importantly help raise awareness of the fundraiser for her service dog. This dog is being trained to alert folks when she may fall, to help her in and out of bed, and other ways. Lynn is very independent, and continues to work in our community, performing miracles everyday with all the area non profit agencies.

Lynn is truly an inspiration. She never stops going. She is truly deserving of this recognition and hopefully folks will hear the story and share to help with her service dog to maintain her independence so she can keep up her good works. Thanks so much for your consideration!
