UPDATE: Shreveport police investigators are searching for suspects in the city's latest murder.

Here's the latest from SPD Corporal Marcus Hines:

Shortly before 11:00 a.m. on July 27, 2016, Shreveport Police patrol officers were called to a home in the 4300 block of Long Street relative to the discovery of a man who was found deceased in side the residence. According to information gathered on the scene of the crime, the man, identified as 39 year old Cedric Atkins of Shreveport, was located after friends of his noticed he door to his residence was standing open. It was later discovered, Atkins was deceased.

Investigators with the Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit were called to the scene, along with crime scene investigators. The remains of Atkins were released to the Caddo Parish Coroners Office for autopsy to determine the exact manner of Atkin's death. Authorities are investigating the death of Atkins as the 26th homicide of the year in the city of Shreveport and are asking anyone with any information about the crime to contact Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or visit their website at www.lockemup.org.

Just before 10 this morning, officers were called out to a home in the 4300 block of Long Street, near the intersection of Eleanor. The property owner told them he'd found a man's body inside the house.

What we know so far is that the door had apparently been forced open, and the house had been ransacked. We don't know how the victim died.
