The Bossier Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Hunter Education Field Day on Sept. 21 to provide the shooting portion for those who have completed training for hunting with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

The shooting will take place on the Bossier Sheriff’s Office range located at 2977 Old Plain Dealing Road in Plain Dealing with registration at 7:30 a.m. and training at 8:00.

Participants must complete an on-line training course with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries prior to participating in the Field Day, located at www.wlf.louisiana.gov under the menu “Hunter Education.”  This will provide you with information to allow you to sign up for the classroom course or the Internet Home Study Course.

Shooters will need to bring the voucher showing they have completed the required on-line training or in-class training in order to register for Field Day.  The Sheriff’s Office will provide firearms and ammunition; shooters will not use their own weapons.   Participants are encouraged to bring snacks because breaks are restricted during the class.

There is no need to pre-register for the course – simply show up with the required training completed.  There is also no cost for Field Day.
